Dr. Todd Wolynn received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pennsylvania and earned a master of medical management from Heinz College, Pittsburgh, PA. He led clinical vaccine research at Kids Plus for 14 years, including more than 40 studies as both a sub-investigator and a principal investigator.
His areas of focus for the past decade have been immunization communication, primary care breastfeeding support, patient/family engagement in the office and online, and pediatricians as advocates. Dr. Wolynn has served in a variety of roles as consultant and advisor on vaccine-related projects in his practice, as well as with professional medical organizations, vaccine manufacturers, and other vaccine-related entities.
When Kids Plus sustained a global, coordinated anti-vaccine attack on social media in September 2017 after creating and posting a pro-vaccine video, Dr. Wolynn and Kids Plus began taking a leading national role in addressing anti-vaccine groups online.
The data are unequivocal: physicians are the most trusted and impactful educational resource for families regarding vaccinations. Dr. Wolynn encourages healthcare providers to become better communicators and leverage social media as a tool to promote good health so that anti-vaccine organizations, social media platforms, and legislators can be held accountable for actions that reduce herd immunity and threaten public health.
