Dr. Mark Freedman is a veterinary medical officer with the education team in the Immunization Services Division, National Center for Immunizations and Respiratory Diseases, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). He is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine. He studied microbiology as an undergraduate at Colorado State University, received his DVM from the University of Tennessee and his MPH from the University of Washington with a focus in epidemiology. Currently, he provides guidance to state and local health departments and health systems regarding immunization programs and vaccine recommendations based on the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations. Additionally, he develops and implements immunization education and training materials for vaccine providers. He has previously worked in the fields of HIV surveillance and Childhood Vaccine Coverage Assessments in US Territories.
