Meningococcal Vaccines: Serogroups & Series

November 16, 2020 @ 2:40 PM - 3:00 PM EST

Meningococcal disease is a bacterial infection due to Neisseria meningitidis, of which there are six serogroups that cause most disease worldwide. The incidence of meningococcal disease in the US has declined in the past 20 years. However, in recent years, serogroup B outbreaks among college students and serogroup C outbreaks among men who have sex with men have been reported. This presentation will review the ACIP recommendations for use of meningococcal vaccines and booster doses in different populations.
